PIX Forest Biomass Finland Index Specification

Grade: PIX Forest Biomass Finland Index includes both forest chips and industry byproducts. Separate subindices are available for forest chips, sawdust and bark as well as divided in two regions in Finland (South/West and North/East)
Quantity: MWh. Information per cubic meter (loose or solid) can also be reported. Fastmarkets FOEX transforms all data received to MWh using conversion factors
End-use Location: Finland
Incoterm: DDU, unloaded at buyer’s plant (or TOP, Finnterms), chipped. If non-delivered or unchipped lots are included, an estimated conversion to delivered and/or chipped may be provided. If non-delivered or non-chipped/-crushed prices are provided without conversion estimates, Fastmarkets FOEX transforms such data using best available information of freight and chipping/crushing rates collected from data
Timing: Material delivered during the data month
Currency: EUR. Prices reported in other currencies are converted to the index currency by Fastmarkets FOEX using the data month’s average ECB exchange rate
Price type and payment terms: Net. Customs and other duties paid, excluding any excise taxes and VAT
Payment terms: Customs and other duties paid, excluding any excise taxes and VAT
Publication: Monthly, on 2nd Tuesday of each month at noon Helsinki time. If Tuesday falls on a public holiday in Finland, the index will be published on the first working day thereafter. The index is based on the month before last month’s data (e.g. publishing: March, data: January)

PIX Pellet Nordic Industrial Index Specification

Grade: Wood pellets used in industrial-grade instalments (power approx. 2 MW and over), the pellets can be industrial grade or higher (according to international standards such as ISO 17225 or national equivalent)
Unit: MWh. Information per tonne can also be reported. Fastmarkets FOEX transforms all data received to MWh using a conversion coefficient of 4.8 MWh/tonne unless otherwise informed by the price provider.
End-use location: Nordic countries, which here include Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden
Incoterm: Prices are reported CIF Baltic Sea port or North Sea port. The prices reported in FOB are transformed into CIF using the best available information of freight rates. For deliveries by truck or rail, the term DDU, DAP (or TOP for Finland) can also be considered.
Timing: Material delivered during the data month
Currency: EUR or SEK. Prices reported in other currencies are converted to the index currency by Fastmarkets FOEX using the data month’s average ECB exchange rate
Price type and payment terms: Net. Customs and other duties paid, excluding taxes. Prices of long-term contracts can be included, however, not longer than 12 months, unless the price is re-negotiated within this term.
Publication: Monthly, on 3rd Tuesday of the following month at noon Helsinki time. If Tuesday falls on a public holiday in Finland, the index will be published on the first working day thereafter.

PIX Sawn Timber FAS Finland Index Specification

Grade: Selected quality grades of spruce and pine sawn timber exported from Finland. The quality-based sub-indices will be calculated as volume weighted averages of the prices provided. Based on these, the main indices will be calculated using fixed factors based on the market share of each quality grade.
Unit: Prices are provided per cubic meter, volumes are provided in cubic meters.
Export destination, country-of-origin: Destination is not limited, products must be produced in Finland
Incoterm: FAS. If prices are provided with other delivery terms, they will be normalized to FAS equivalent.  If, for any reason, normalization is not possible the prices will be excluded from the index calculation.
Timing: The prices reported to Fastmarkets FOEX are final invoiced/to-be-invoiced deliveries concluded in the full calendar month prior to the publishing date and for delivery within the next six months.
Price type and payment terms: Prices are provided in euros excluding VAT or other taxes and before customer-specific rebates. Standard payment terms.
Publication: Monthly, on 4th Tuesday of the following month at noon Helsinki time. If Tuesday falls on a public holiday in Finland, the index will be published on the first working day thereafter.
